LETTER MAIL
Malawi Posts Corporation provides a nationwide cost effective delivery service of letter mail that spans nationally, regionally and internationally. Malawi Posts Corporation is committed to delivering cost effective, reliable, secure and efficient mail and other services to its customers.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
The universal postal union regulates what can be sent through the postal network and as such the following items are prohibited; drugs, animals, precious stones, alcohol, money, explosives, plants and any offensive material
Operating Standards and Targets
Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) would like to inform its valued customers that it provides mail service both locally and across borders based on standards and targets contained in its operating license issued by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).
The following are the standards and targets
- 1-DOMESTIC MAIL

| 1 | Intra-City (mail posted in a city for delivery in the same city. | Same day. |
| 2 | Inter-City (mail posted from one city for delivery in another city). | One day after date of posting. |
| 3 | Inter-District: same region (mail posted from one district post office for delivery in another district post office in the same region. | 2 days after date of posting. |
| 4 | Inter-District: Country wide (mail posted at a district post office for delivery at another district post office in another region. | 2 days after date of posting. |
| 5 | Between District and Rural: same region (mail posted at rural post office for delivery at district post office in the same region. | 3 days after date of posting. |
| 6 | Between District and Rural areas: Country wide (mail posted at a rural post office for delivery at a district post office in another region. | 4 days after date of posting. |
| 7 | Rural – Rural: same region (mail posted in one rural post office for delivery in another rural post office in the same region. | 4 days after date of posting. |
| 8 | Rural – Rural: Country wide (mail posted in one rural post office for delivery in another rural post office in another region. | 5 days after date of posting. |
Note : Mail posted before 1600 hrs from Monday to Friday should definitely meet the above standards without fail and including also mail posted through Pillar Boxes.
