MPC Offers Private Bus Hire Services
Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) has clarified that it has not phased out its bus services—but has shifted focus to private bus hire only.
Speaking during the World Postal Day commemorations in Mwanza District, Postmaster General Angel Banda emphasized MPC’s commitment to evolving with the times.
“We’ve only stopped commuter services. Our buses are still available for private hire,” said Banda.
She further shared that MPC is embarking on a 10-year strategic plan centered on digitization and customer-centric innovation to meet changing service needs.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu highlighted challenges like high maintenance costs and aging buses, which led to the halt in commuter services. However, the corporation is actively strengthening its courier services and embracing ICT to align with Malawi 2063.
“Our goal is to transform and deliver better services through innovation and digital tools,” he said.
The event, held under the theme “150 Years of Enabling Communication and Empowering Peoples Across Nations”, included the handover of a new computer lab to Mwanza District Council, signaling progress toward digital transformation.
